Dialogues

Welcome to Dialogues—-the fortnightly seminar series of the discipline of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar! An initiative of HSS@IITGN, ‘Dialogues’ celebrates IIT Gandhinagar’s ethos of cross-disciplinary interactions and exchange of ideas, thoughts, and research. Ever since its inception, ‘Dialogues’ has striven to bring together scholars, policymakers, faculty members, and public intellectuals from diverse fields, in an attempt to forge meaningful conversations across the disciplines. Launched in 2018, ‘Dialogues’ strives to keep alive the spirit of liberal education without boundaries, opening up in the process, newer vistas of learning and knowledge creation.

Events organized by ‘Dialogues’ tend to fall into three categories: ‘Kathan|Lecture Series’, ‘Charcha|Round Tables and Panel Discussions’, and ‘Adda|Conversations’. Although the lectures or independent talks are done mostly by invitation, those interested in presenting their work, may also write to us at dialogues@iitgn.ac.in or directly to Dr. Madhumita Sengupta at madhumitasg@iitgn.ac.in Events are organized typically during the academic sessions of the institute, that is from August to November, and from January to April. ‘Dialogues’ provides an easy platform for faculty members, research scholars, members of civil society, policymakers, and public intellectuals to share their ideas and thoughts. It also affords them an opportunity to acquire critical feedback on their work. Our team of dedicated student members and technical staff, work together to create an ambient environment for healthy and meaningful deliberations and discussions. Most of our events are recorded and the videos of past events may be found on our website (https://sites.iitgn.ac.in/dialogues). Our wonderful digital repository of events more than a year old may be found in the Archive section of Dialogues. Please visit the Gallery to view the pictures from past events.
