Animal-based proteomic and isotopic studies to reconstruct their palaeodiet, provenance and husbandry practices at the Harappan site of Dholavira (Kutch District, Gujarat, India) – Internal Grant IITGN

Studies reconstructing the subsistence of Gujarat Harappans in the mid-Holocene period against the backdrop of climatic changes and tectonic disturbances posit strategies of resilience and adaptation.

Dholavira worked bone assemblage: a study of its typology, technology, experimental reproduction and digitization ICHR research project grant

The Indus Civilization’s worked bone assemblages have till date merely been described in ambiguous terms and largely assumed to have been made from hard animal parts of species that quantitatively dominate the provenance sites' faunal assemblages.

Cultural identity of the Nagas vis-à-vis their origin

The Nagas were first reported by surveyors and explorers and later by administrators and trained anthropologists. As soon as the Naga Hills were accessed in the 1830s the area became one of the anthropological paradises and the occupants’ material culture attracted all leading ethnology museums and the anthropologists from around the world.

Traditional Glass-Making in India: Rediscovering the Manufacturing of Reh Glass

Traditional Glass-Making in India: Rediscovering the Manufacturing of Reh Glass

With this project, we would like to record how traditional glass-makers in India were producing reh glass, a glass obtained using a single-ingredient recipe. Reh is a silica-rich soil containing a natural mix of immature sand with high alumina concentrations and a sodic efflorescence able to produce a vitreous material when heated in a glass furnace.
