The National Geographic Society supports innovative fieldwork and research in a wide variety Of science subjects including archaeology, anthropology, geology, geography, photography, earth sciences, biology, and botany. Grants are available for both students and senior scholars and there is a special fund for first-time grantees as a way to support young women and men as they begin their careers. Please join us for an overview and discussion of the grant submission process with Dr. Christopher Thornton, Senior Director Of Grants, National Geographic Society (Washington D.C.) and Prof. Monica L. Smith Of UCLA (Los Angeles), a member Of the NGS grants committee. A brief presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer period in which individuals can ask questions about the application process Or about their specific research topics.
