Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Gandhinagar presents a public talk by Mr Huzefa Khalil, Postdoctoral Fellow, the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor on the topic “Europe: A Requiem For An Idea?” scheduled on 26th February 2019.
Abstract: If European integration is to succeed, political integration is necessary as the current situation of a common monetary policy without a common fiscal policy is untenable. However, this is politically difficult given the decreasing levels of public confidence in the European Union. He argues that for political integration to succeed, an effective European identity is necessary: in order to support Europe, people must consider themselves European. His talk will explore ways in which this might come about.
