Abstract:
The present dialogue will focus on the concepts of Swaraaj and Hind as expressed by Gandhi in his Hind Swaraj or Indian Home Rule, the English translation of Hind Swaraaj. The dialogue attempts to understand the significance of the translation from a non-dominant language to the politically powerful language. An attempt is also made to understand the concept of Hind Swaraaj as it is expressed in the Source Text and presented in the Target Text. Similarly, the idea of nation/state was also analyzed keeping both ST and TT in mind and how the ideas change across the language and readership, and now time.
